Please refer to the list below for the main necessary procedures before leaving Japan.
Your residence card will become invalid after the due date of graduation. Students who haven't taken any procedures of changing your status need to leave Japan as soon as possible.
In case you stay in Japan for future study or employment
Change your residence status in advance at the Immigration Bureau, according to the future approved activity.

In case you leave Japan
・When you graduate from TUT and leave Japan, or
If you leave Japan before graduation and are not going to come back to Japan while you are a student,
please return your Residence Card to airport immigration staff.
Keep your Residence Card with your passport. You will be asked to return it at the point of your departure.
・If you are going to come back to Japan while you are a student, please check here and see "(2) Re-entry permission".
University
・Inform your supervisor in TUT of your departure date.
・Submit "Report of Post-graduation Plan" at the Computer Science and Engineering Dept. ※When you graduate from TUT
・Obtain your official academic transcript, university diploma, etc at Educational Affairs Division. ※When you graduate from TUT
・Return your Student ID at Student Affairs Division.
Housing
If you live in the Kaikan, inform International Student Section of your moving date by 1 month before the day of move-out.
(If you live in a private accommodation, it depends on the contract but it is better to notice the owner one or two months before.) Pay any outstanding rent, gas, electricity and water bills.
Clean your living quarters thoroughly and remember to take out your garbage and put it in the specified area. Large waste and recyclable refuse should be disposed correctly with scheduling in several month advance.
At the City Hall
・Submit "Moving-out notification". (See Moving-in Moving -out)
・Return your Health Insurance Card and settle your payment. (Insurance and Pension Division)
At Bank
Cancel your bank account. Take your account book and cash card to the office where you hold the account (opening hours: 9:00-15:00 at banks/9:00-16:00 at post offices), and complete the procedures in person. It is better to go to the office after you call them. Reservation might be required.
Phone or Internet
(if necessary) If you have a mobile phone or use an Internet service, cancel the contract and settle the final payment in person. If you have to ask a friend to do so on your behalf, enquire at the shop regarding necessary documentation in advance.
