(1)Earthquake

Japan experiences unusually frequent earthquakes. It is important to know what to do in the case of an earthquake. Here is a basic guideline when an earthquake occurs.

  1. Protect yourself (Hide under a desk/table and cover your head; move to a spot where you will avoid falling objects). Do not panic and run outside.
  2. If possible, shut off gas valves and unplug electrical cords.
  3. Secure escape routes by opening doors and windows.
  4. Get the right information from TV, radio or mobile phone.
  5. Evacuate by walking with only light belongings. Do not use elevators.

(2)Typhoons, Heavy rain and flooding

Pay attention to weather information and stay indoors unless necessary.

Be careful things blown into the air by strong winds.

Keep away from swollen rivers that are at risk of flooding.

Be careful not to fall into diches when roads are flooded.
